New Frolic Brooklyn Play Area Caters to Rock ‘n Rollers

“Love, Children & Rock ‘n Roll!” That’s the motto of a new indoor play area for children in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. “Frolic” opened to crowds of happy kids and moms, who raved about the custom, rock ‘n roll themed play area. “We’ve had an overwhelming response to our play area,” says co-owner Carey Balogh.

Balogh and co-owner Julia Dawson, both former fashion industry professionals and self-proclaimed rock ‘n roll fanatics, met when they were both pregnant. Accepting the fact that their “rock ‘n roll” lifestyles were definitely going to change as mothers, they wondered how they might bring rock ‘n roll to the younger, under-six set.

The idea for “Frolic” was born.

According to The New York Daily News, “The sprawling indoor playground features a custom-made interactive VW bus, an LED-lighted concert stage, a Rolling Stones-inspired tongue slide, and bouncy ‘magic psychedelic mushrooms’ - not to mention a private lounge serving organic coffee for mom and dad.”

Balogh and Dawson reached out to PLAYTIME, LLC to help create customized carpeting and rock-themed soft-foam play equipment.

 The play area has already received tons of media coverage. The Greenpoint Gazette quoted Balogh: “It’s all about community here, and bringing people together, to have a place where your kids can develop long-term relationships and you develop long relationships with parents,” said Balogh. “Where do [our husbands] go to socialize with other dads? They don’t. Here everyone has the chance to form relationships, to bond as families.”
